The primary objective is to
provide a syringe enabling easy release of the needle hub(4) from the barrel(1) (See Figure 6).
The second objective is to provide a syringe that is able to provide an adequate seal between the needle coupler(3) and the barrel(1), thereby preventing medication
leak (See Figure 6). This is accomplished by multiple bosses(32) found on the periphery of the needle coupler(3) interlocking with corresponding troughs(112) found in the
inner aspect of the retaining device(11) of the barrel(1). In addition, an O-ring(37) is mounted on the needle coupler(3) to prevent barrel leakage (See Figure 7 &
Figure 8).
The third objective is to provide an improved mechanism for the retraction of the needle hub(4) and coupler(3). This is performed by a ratchet device/system found on
the needle coupler(3) and a set of annular teeth(24) found on the end of the plunger's conical head(23). The ratchet device/system and corresponding teeth allows for
secure coupling of the needle coupler(3) and the plunger(2), thereby facilitating the retraction of the needle coupler(3) together with needle hub(4) back into the
barrel(1) (See Figure 6).
The fourth objective is to provide a TC30® whose needle is angulated in the barrel when retracted. This is accomplished by the angulated resilient push
rod(25) at the tip of the conical head(23) of the plunger(2) (See Figure 6).
The last objective is to provide an accident-proof retraction mechanism. The rotary action prevents accidental disengagement of the needle coupler(3) even if the
plunger(2) is accidentally pushed to the base of the barrel(1). The needle coupler(3) can only be disengaged with a 30 degrees clockwise turn of the needle
coupler/plunger(3,2) assembly (See Figure 6).
Other objectives, advantages and novel features of TC30® will become more apparent in the following description of the product.
