Safety Syringe

TC30®

Operation

  1. Withdrawal of medication
    1. Remove the needle protecting cap.

    2. Push the plunger in, moving the piston to the base of the barrel. The ability to push the piston to the coupler and hub allows for precise measurement of medication volume. (e.g.: the spring-loaded retractable needle syringe does not allow for this action. The spring-loaded mechanism is triggered when the piston is pushed to the hub; i.e. the needle will spring back into the barrel or plunger preventing intended use. To compensate for this flaw, our competitors recommend leaving some dead space in the barrel between the piston and the hub when withdrawing medication. Hence, this flawed technique does not allow accurate measurement of medication.)

    3. Insert the needle into the medication vial and pull the plunger back to withdraw the medication.

    4. Remove residual air in the syringe barrel using standard technique.

    5. Replace the needle protecting cap if not for immediate use.

  2. Injection
    1. Remove the needle protecting cap.

    2. Pierce the needle into the desired area and push the plunger inward until the medication is completely delivered. The front end of the plunger (conical head) will join with the needle coupler/adapter quietly.

    3. The needle now is contaminated. In the case of the conventional syringe, the protecting cap can be replaced onto the needle. In the case of the sliding sheath, the sheath can be placed over the needle to protect from accidental injury. However, these techniques still allow for accidentally needle piercing with careless operation. Similarly, unprotected needle can cause accidental piercing.

  3. Destruction of TC30®
    1. Once the plunger conical head is at the base of the coupler and hub, rotate the plunger 30 degrees clockwise to release the locking mechanism of the needle coupler/adapter.

    2. Pull the plunger directly to the top of the barrel and the plunger will retract the needle coupler/adapter, needle hub, and needle into the barrel. The needle will automatically be guided to an angle, pointing to the inner side of the barrel.

    3. Once the needle is completely inside the barrel, push the plunger forward. The needle point will then catch on the inner edge of the shoulder of the barrel, thereby forcing the needle to bend and be destroyed inside the barrel.

    4. The needle of TC30® will then be isolated from healthcare personnel, achieving its intended function.
